From time to time as you’re quilting, you wonder “how did they do that?”. This section of our website contains hints and “how to” instructions for options for your quilts.
Scalloped edges for your quilt 1. Try several sizes of dinner plates to determine the size of the scallop you desire. Choose a pleasing depth, not too deep. 2. Start in the corners, drawing the scallop line around the plate, starting and stopping at the quilt edges.3. Evenly divide the quilt sides, top and bottom so that your plate creates a pleasing scallop along each edge. Adjust as needed. 4. Staystitch just to the inside of the drawn line. Trim on drawn line. 6. Cut single bias binding, 1-1/2″ wide. Stitch carefully to scallop. Be very careful not to stretch the binding. 7. Fold over to the quilt back and hand stitch binding to the quilt.
