Country Threads – a unique quilt shop in Iowa

Several years ago, Mary and Connie discovered punch needle embroidery at the International Quilt Market in Houston, TX.  They were so taken with punch needle embroidery that they started embroidering in their hotel room that very night. They came home to our quilt shop in Iowa and immediately got all the gals in the shop fired up about it. We’re all hooked!

Punch needle embroidery is a wonderful needle art. Working with 3 strands of embroidery floss and a punch needle tool, you can create a small piece of artwork with loops of floss. Country Threads’ punch needle patterns include the design stamped on weaver’s cloth, directions, and floss needed to complete the project. Other supplies needed to get started include a no-slip hoop and scissors. This needle art is relatively inexpensive and the results reflect a folk art often resembling country quilts or hooked rugs.
